Since 1990, Brandes Associates has provided specialized software
engineering support to its military customers. In 2001 BAI established a dedicated software
development group focused on innovative solutions and reliable sustainment in today’s dynamic
Warfighting environment:

A 100% on-shore© enterprise working closely with our customers at
both the Program and end-user level, BAI’s Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) Group
develops C4ISR secure products certified for military networks. Our applications are fully tested
and validated using Warfighter assets and Warfighter-simulated environments. The Brandes team
supports the full development life cycle from concept, requirements definition, design,
development, test, integration, upgrades, help desk and support.
Mission Planning Applications
Our C4ISR developers have produced mission planning and mission execution tools that work
together as a suite of fully-interoperable applications in support of our customers.
Adaptive Planning System (APS)
This SOF mission planning tool brings transparency to the multi echelon, geographically dispersed
SOF mission planning and decision making process and information management needs.
SOF Tactical Toolkit (STTK)
Integrating the diverse types of information and sources commonly used in support of military
operations, the web-accessible STTK enables Warfighters to quickly and efficiently cull and
exploit the knowledge that military information-management contains, whether from databases,
email, web page, PowerPoint brief, Excel spreadsheet, or other source. This highly-customizable
toolkit can be rapidly adapted to the unique information environments of each unit.
Meteorological Decision Support (MDSS)
The Brandes Meteorological Decision Support System (MDSS) is a web enabled application tapping
and integrating data from diverse Military and Commercial Meteorological sources to provide
Warfighters with convenient access to current client-side thresholded meteorological and
oceanographic information. This data is optimized for use in identifying optimal platforms
to employ, best time, and best place to fulfill mission needs. MDSS has evolved to meet a
number of user needs:
 |
  |
SOF MDSS. Developed through
an Office of Naval Research initiative, this original MDSS variant
has been successfully integrated with the Special Forces mission planning
suite (SOMPE-M/TACLAN), as well as Image Product Libraries and the
SOF Tactical Toolkit (STTK).
|
 |
  |
Global Hawk MDSS. A component
of Global Hawk's UAV Ground Segment, this MDSS variant provides weather
decision support for remote UAV piloting, including alternate courses
of action. Using a JMBL Retrieval Agent and updated Virtual Planning
Surface (map) components, the application features JMPS integration
and COE level 5.
|
 |
  |
MPEC MDSS. The Mission Planning
Enterprise Contract MDSS extends Global Hawk capabilities to include
JMPS Weather Common Capability (WxCC), application of wind and temperature
to flight path, and a Flight Weather Briefing component. |
Tactical Decision Support (TDSS)
The Brandes Tactical Decision Support System (TDSS) provides SOF mission planners with tools to
assist in the planning and production of mission routes. Originally developed as a fully
integrated PFPS FalconView plug-in, TDSS incorporates elevation data (DTED), line-of-sight (LOS),
meteorological and oceanographic (METOC) data, threats, and other critical information to assist
mission planners with "on-the-fly" route creation for both ground and air-borne vehicles.
Generated Routes can be exported for use in both Combat Flight Planning Software (CFPS), and
military GPS devices. TDSS is also integrated with the PFPS threat editor and the SOF Tactical
Toolkit (STTK), allowing access to threat data such as BirdDog and MIDB.
Biometric Technology (RMITS)
BAI's Rapid Maritime Identification and Tracking System (RMITS) is an asymmetric information
weapon system designed to allow U.S. military and security forces to rapidly and accurately
identify, monitor, track, and prosecute individuals known to be hostile to the national interest.
Currently under development, RMITS will integrate and distribute regionally-tailored biometric
identification and intelligence data from diverse sources directly into the hands of on-scene U.S.
military and security personnel, reducing previous suspect identification times from days or weeks
(if ever) to minutes. RMITS analysis capabilities are incorporating Predictive Data Mining techniques
to aid in strategic placement of data collection devices, security perimeters, and site or event screenings.
Crisis Management (ICMS)
BAI's Intelligent Crisis Management System (ICMS) is designed to enable secure and intelligent
dissemination of information in the shortest amount of time to the correct users-warfighters,
first responders, and other beneficiaries. Based on a publish-and-subscribe paradigm, ICMS
can be adapted for many diverse applications, such as emergency response, Homeland Security,
and spam-free inter-office communication. ICMS is an open source, platform independent
multifunctional communication software that provides a Common and Focused Operational Picture.
